My Reading Journal 5 G組 吳中翔

This week, I choose the new book to read. The book is called "the Twenty-One Balloons". It's written by William Pene du Bois. This book is the winner of the Newbery Medal. There are 180 pages(10 chapters) in this book. I have read two chapters.
The Twenty-One Balloons is a story talking about William Watermsn Sherman who is the professor. Professor Sherman had been teaching arithmetic at a school for boys in San Francisco for forty years. At first he thought of balloon travel only as a wonderful way of going to school because he was so tired o teaching. Then he thought of ballon travel as a way of spending a year of rest after retiring. At the age of sixty-six, he stopped teaching. He decided to take a year off and it crossing the Pacific Ocean in a hot-air balloon. So that he could be alone with no body to bother him and leaving his destination to the winds. Watermsn Sherman's trip was very exciting. He ran into trouble right away, including such disturbance as the greatest explosion in the history of the world. It's the story of Professor William Watermsn Sherman's unusual voyage, of his fabulous friends and unusual life.on the Island of Krakatoa ending with the noisiest day in the life of any man in history. The period of the book isthe period when balloons were most popular, 1860 to 1890.
This book is very interesting to me. I wish that I can finish this book in this month.
