The book I want to read is "Pride and Prejudice," first published on 28 January 1813, is the most famous of Jane Austen's novels and one of the first "romantic comedies " in the history of the novel. The book is Jane Austen's second published novel. The reason I choose this book is that I want to read more classic of the world. And I choose the modern version which retold by Hilary Burningham, so I can read it and listen to CD.

Pride and Prejudice is a novel about the family Bennet with five daughters. Though they are not poor, they are certainly not rich, and the girls' choice of husband will decide how they live for the rest of their lives.

The second daughter, Elizabeth, the central character, refused the marry the first man proposed to her. She insisted that she will love and respect the man she marries. Mr. Darcy, who is tall, handsome and rich, was quite attracted to her. He found her both beautiful and intelligent.

There are two problems baffle them in the story: one is Elizabeth's pride: she thought him arrogant; another is Mr. Darcy's prejudice: her family was socially beneath his. --- I think that's why the book called "Pride and Prejudice."

The book I choose to read is "Forrest Gump." (1200 words)

It is a famous story that I have heard several times .

I thought it is a interesting story cause it seems won't happen in real life.

I never see the movie and only know that by little words,so I am glad to have this chance to read it in detail.

This book is a story about an idiot called Forrest Gump.Just because he doesn't as smart as other people,he experienced many things in an unusual way.

This book is in 12 chapters, every chapter describes an important period of his life .

At first I was a little afraid of reading it for it's all in English.But I soon got used to read it.It's really not difficult and very easy to comprehend.I was charmed by the story-he met a football coach and played a wonderful game,played harmonica with Jenny's band (but he didn't learn it before!).I wanna know what's going to happen to him.I am sure it will all be fun.

The book I choosed was The Count of Monte Cristo written Alexandre Dumas for my reading project.The reason that I choosed the book was that I was interested in the picture of the first page.There was a seaman with a smile.

I have read 50 pages of the book.The story was about Dantes Edmond,a seaman.He was a young seaman.He had good ability of leading other seamen and a beautiful girlfriend who was going to be his wife.As Edmond would hold a wedding.,two men was jealous of Edmond.So they use a bad way to let Edmond be sent to the jail.

I thought the book was a interesting . While it was not a happy sotry as far.But this is my first time to read an English novel I could choose.I thought that was why I didn't hate the book.

I normally read the novel at night .When I read ,my roommates were using the

computers. But thet didn't effect me.I didn't think I was very effective . I didn't pay all my attention on the book.Sometimes I talked with my roommates.

I thought this was not an easy job for me , in fact.Be honesty,I didn't have the habit of reading English novels.But I found it was not as difficult as I read at the beginning three days.So I would try to do well on my reading.

The book I chose to read is called "Short Stories by O.Henry".The reason why I chose it is the auther who is well-known in America in the 20th centry.He is good at short stories creativing.His compositions almost portray the New York life.In his stories,you can know the townpeople's aspirations in the monetary society. One of the story in the book calls "The Last Leaf".The story's outline as folows: In Washington Square,there was full of art breath.Sue and Johnsy met at there and they had the same tastes in art.So they became partners and founded their own studio.But in the town,an illness which called "Pneumouia" stalked.Many people were infected from it and included Johnsy.Johnsy was very pessimistic.Outside of her studio,there was an old ivy vine which just remained a few leaves.She said when the leaves all fall down,she would die whit it.Sue was very worry and needed some helps from Behrman who was an arttist in the town.And Behrman's creation spurred Johasy.Finally,Johnsy's illness recovered. From the story,I learned some apocalypses.We should active and optimistic to face our lives.The life is always so beautiful that we can't give up it rashly.

I choose the "Charlotter's Web" wrritten by E.B.WHITE for my reading because I have seen the movue lastyear and the book is the most popular story for kids in the U.S.. The cotent in the movie is moving led to I want to know more detail story.

Now I have read the book to page 91 and the content is about the pig named Fern is going to meet the new friend,Charlotte!!!This book doesn't have many difficult words.

The book I chose is Charlotte's Web which was written by E. B. white in 1952. The reason why I chose this book was my classmate's recommend. Also, charlotte's web has been produced a film in 2007. Though I have no chance to see charlotte's web in the movie theater, I can enjoy it by reading.

This book contains twenty-two chapters. In the beginning, I planned to read one chapter one day, but the schedule hasn't practiced. There are some vocabularies that I didn't know so that I had to use the dictionary to confirm the meaning of those words.

I have read seven chapters so far. It is really a cute tale. The pig Wilbur in the story is innocent but has no friends. One day ,a spider whose name is Charlotte appear to talk with Wilbur. This makes Wilbur's life something different.

I hope that I can read faster and then reach my goal-one chapter one day.

It's a very special fiction with some logical and mathematical thinkings writen by Mark Haddon , a novelist and poet .
The story is about a genius－Christopher who has no understanding of human emotions and cannot stand to be touched
witnesses his neighbor's dog is impaled on a garden fork , then he decide to track to the real killer , But the investigation
leads him down some unexpected paths and ultimately brings him face to face with the dissolution of his parents' marriage.
As he tries to deal with the crisis within his own family , we are drawn into the workings of Christopher's mind.

I selected the book "Views and Values",which includes many short storys and diverse articles on universal themes.At the begining I was little bit frustrated because there were lots of vocabularies I've never seen,that makes me read slowly and not knowing what was the author trying to tell readers.Then I told myself to be patient,finally,I finished that,I still did it!!

The first story is named "A Mother in Manneille",wirtten by Marjorie Rawlings.It's describing a relationship between an orphan and an adult,the orphan worked for her,and he told her that he has a mother just like her,she always sends him presents in special days.The adult also likes him,and she couldn't understand why his mother left such a clever child here,where is near from her working place.
After a few days the adult was going to move to another place,she went to the orphanage,visiting the little boy,then she realized that he has no mother and no presents !

Sometimes we may use our imagination to help us cope with reality,like the little boy.Perhaps an orphan's greatest wish is having a mother that can send him warm and love.He's a clever boy,but he lie to the adult,also to himself.
Although it's fine to evade the reality sometimes,we can't evade them forever.Try to accept them and to conquer the sadness then you can set yourself free.
After all,we have to face the music one day.

The book I choose was The Kite Runner, no.1 New York Times bestseller.

I want to finish this book, then to see the movie. Many people say that novel is always

more touching than movie. But I found it difficult to make it. The novel's vocabulary

extremely exceeded my own. Because the first two weeks, I had some tests for the

last semester, now I merely read ten pages, but I looked up dictionary

many times. I listed the word I didn't understand, there were 80 words now, only in ten

pages. I could not enjoy in the reading process, so I felt like chaning books.

The story I read so far was about the leading man's memory. From some word, I guess
that he lost his best friend in that past. I sensed his regret and desire to make up.

In the retrospect, his best friend was his father's servant's son. They were carefree

and happy. The days seen so good, maybe something was about to happen.

I will try this book one more week, or I will try other one.

I chose "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" to read because this novel was bought in senior high but I never read it.
In addition , this novel isn't too easy or too difficult for me to read.Its level is 2000~2500 words.
I think the level is suitable.Now,I've read five chapters.
Althogh we've known the story since we were kids, I still found there are many details that I forgot or never knew.
I remeber the first time that I knew this story was on TV.It was an anime on disney channel.
Therefore , there are a lot of colorful image in my head when I was reading the novel like the rabbit dashed busily or the caterpillar was speaking to Alice.
This made me understand the story more easily.

The novel belongs to a series named "Oxford Bookworms Library".

This simplified edition was published on 2000.

I think that will help if I know more about the author or the creation background of story, when I read this novel. So I want to introduce something about the author , Mary Shelley. She lived in nineteenth century Europe. Her parents were both writers and famous people of that time. In addition , her husband is Percy Bysshe Shelley , who is a well-known English romantic poet . Merry Shelley wrote many books in her life , but today she is remembered only for her first novel , Frankenstein , also is this novel. The idea for this story came to her when she and her husband were staying with their fried , Lord Byron , another well-known English poet , at his villa near Lake Geneva. One storm night Byron suggested that everyone should write a ghost story. At first Mary did not have any idea , but later she had a dream in which a monster appeared , and then Frankenstein was born according that dream. When Mary wrote this story , she was only nineteen and expecting a baby. Two of her children had already died young , and we can see in this story her fears and worriws about preguncy , childbirth , and the way children develop in later life. By the way, Frankenstein is often called the first science- fiation story.

I have not finished reading this novel , but will be soon done. The vocabulary in this rewritten edition are not difficult for me , so I can read it roughly smoothly. But sometimes I also don't comprehend the meaning of context , so I will read that paragraph again. I consider I can take a serious thinking about some issues mentioned in the novel , like "How and what science affect us ?" . For me this story is besides a little horrible and sad , it also instructive. I will keep going.

I selected the book that named "American Short Stories In Special English".
I have read six stories about the book.
Honestly, my speed was slowly, because at first I chosen another book,
but that one was not suitable to me. So I changed the book later.
This one, I thought could be better for me.
There were kinds of short stories, and stories was indepent each other.
For example, this was a story about a man lost his hair just because he always wore cowboy hat;
the other was talking about a man addicting to his job due to working too long;
And a story about a couple were praying for raining to their farm in long drought.
This American short stories were interest to me, though some of them could be irrational,
but some could be useful of their deeply meaning after the words.
This was the first time to read english book and write down my thought or opinion,
I wish I could keep going all of the books in this semester.

The book I choose was "Never Deceive a Duke"
the reason i choose this book is that it has beautiful cover
and the author is New York Times bestselling Liz Carlyle who
continue her captivating new historical trilogy with the tale
of a dark and powerful man.I bought this book in new york last
summer,but I haven't read any word until last week.
After i read its prologue and chapter one,
I think it is an extremely complicated emotional world
and a romantic story, the main content I haven't read,
I will expect next chapter.

I chose "The Talented Mr. Ripley" for my first reading. It was written by Patricia Highsmith. Her first novel, Strangers on a Train, was made into a movie by Alfred Hitchcock. And this one, The Talented Mr. Ripley, won a prize from the Mystery Writers of America and was also made into a movie.

The reason why I chose this book is that I had watched the same-named movie long long time ago. It was played by Matt Damon, Jude Law, and Gwyneth Paltrow. That cast is really amazing. But actually I only recognized Matt Damon when I saw the movie then. Although I don't remember the details about this movie, it is just exactly what I need. I can use this chance to feel the story's thrill and charm again.

The novel I borrowed from the library is the retold version. This version used about 2300 vocabularies. Despite not using so many words, I still read one page for 3 minutes on average. This is really different from the time I spend on Chinese books. I think it needs to be improved. I didn't read the novel everyday, so the progress was pretty slow. I have only read the half of this book. I would try harder. I hope I could indulge in English reading this semester!

The book I choose is "Charlotte's Web". "Charlotte's Web" is written by E. B. White. This is the story of a little girl named Fern who loved a little pig named Wilbur and Wilbur,s dear friend Charlotte, a spider lived with Wilbur in the barn. This book is published by Bookman Books, Ltd. There are 184 pages (22 chapters)in this book.

The reason that I want to read this book is that I was interested by the movie "Charlotte's Web" first. I remember the movie was produced last year. I didn't go to see that movie at that time,because I had no money.But I really like to see the movie! Last sunday, just in time, when I went to the bookstore, I found this book! So I decided reading this book, and after reading the book, I want to watch the DVD version at home!

As a matter of fact, I have not read English books for a long time. When I started reading this book, I did a little bit slowly. At present, I have read 7 chapters. I hope that I can do more faster and quickly finish reading this book. So that I can watch the DVD!

The book I chosen is Sherlock Holmes Short Stories. It is publish by Oxford, and leveled stage 2, 700 headwords. I bought this book when I was senior high. Our teacher wanted us to read more English book, but I never read this book after I bought it. I thought it is a good opportunity for me. Because I never read any English book before, I think 700 words can be a nice beginning for my free reading.

Almost everybody knows Sherlock Holmes and has read his story. Holmes books' author is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930). But the book I read was retold by Clare West. It includes three short stories: The Speckled Band, A Scandal in Bohemia and The Five Orange Pips. The stories are very easy for me to read, and I can realize the coherence through these simple words.

In these three stories, I like The Speckled Band most. It was talking about a stepfather wanted to kill his two poor daughters. The older sister was killed unfortunately, so now the young asked Mr. Holmes for help. Mr. Holmes came to the woman's home, and after observed the environment, he knew everything. Through Mr. Holmes's help, the woman missed death luckily.

I have already finished this book. Now I read another book named Lying Awake.

The words used in this book are more difficult than the last book, so the pages I can in one time are very little. But I would try to read it, and keep going.
