After a year without China, I can tell you this: You can still live without it, but it's getting trickier and costlier by the day. And a decade from now I may not be brave enough to try it again." The above paragraph is the author's thought after she live without China last year.

The author express that she does not a trade protectionists, and doesn't worry about the loss of U.S. jobs, she was not against the Chinese. Her goal is very simple, just want the Americans understand that how does a general American connect with the international trading system.

In the beginning boycott Chinese goods, the author said: "boycott China Lets me rethink the distance between me and China, Our lives have been deeply involved in China .
Lower prices has been to benefit from Beijing and contributed to the rise of the Chinese economy, but also allow U.S. consumers not to give up Chinese goods.
Flooded with Chinese goods, is it enhancing the quality of life, or let us into unknown security threats?
We can think it seriously.

Tibet issue,Olympic games, and the boycott to China.
The other days, Tibet issue was frequently disscussed by all the world. Most of people considered that th China government shouldn't apply force to calm down the rebellion. They had to have a negotiations between each others.Because of the event, the olympic fire was obstructed by many peopel who oppose the savage acts done by China government. Some country even want to boycott the Olympic games hosted by China. This act reveals the reason why other countrys want to boycott China's goods even all the things about China.
They want to express their thought to China's force acts to Tibet's people. They think that people have the right of freedom. The Tibet's ntive can administer their own government.Tibet have different culture with China.Tibet can be a independent country. So , many people express their resentment by prohibitting fire's transmittance. This is also the reason why people boycott China's goods.

A year without made in China ? To me , it is difficult. You can imagine that all the things around us almost made in China or be made up of material which come from China. The goods come from China with low price because of its' low cost of labor .if I din't buy these goods means that I should buy something from the other country.Maybe the quality will be good, but your money will loss. And why we boycott the China's goods? I don't think boycott is a right behavior. You can choose what you like but don't easily boycott somethibg. There are many people live in China need the wages to support their own family. Maybe the quality of goods is bad,but they have a low price . Good quality or low price is your own decision!

On January 1, 2005, Sara Bongiorni's family embarked on a yearlong boycott of Chinese products. They wanted to see for themselves what it would take, in will power and creativity, to live without the world's fastest growing economy—and whether it could be done at all.

She thought that she didn't suggest that they buy only American goods, just not things from China. And she plan to go back to their own ways next January.First,She compare this thing to boycotting Wal-Mart .Still, there is a key different between a ban on wal-Mart and one on Chinese goods.Ultimately, boycotting Wal-Mart requires just one thing: keeping your hands on the steering wheel and accelerating past the entrance to its vast parking lot. China, by comparison, blankets the shelves of retailers across the land, and not just the big-box stores but also perfumed boutiques and softly lit department stores and the pages of the catalog that shimmy their way into million of American mailboxes each day. China will not be so easily avoided.

The surging Chinese economy has created uncertainty, fear ,and even anger about unfair competiton. It has also become a major political issue as middle-
class manufacturing jobs are being transferred overseas. The image of China as the beast of far east is well entrenched. But that doesn't necessarily mean
the reality matches the popular perception. So ,is China really the economic steamroller we think it is?
Even more important, could we really live without Chinese goods ?
That is the question asked by author in her book.
So, what is the truth about China? The economic data are not as clear as the press would have we believe. Beginning in the eraly 1980s and accelerating in
the 1990s the Chinese government stopped centrally controlling its economy . China began opening up its markets, and the flood of foreign investment
into the country led to an enormous growth surge in the economy.By the end of 2006, China had one of the five largest economies in the world , and by one
measure, called purchasing power parity , it was second only to the America.

I choose the book "A year without made in china" as my free reading. I am interested in the book title.
China , a country with a population of more than 1.3 billion people. The most populous country in the world.
And now its economy is no longer isolated from the rest of world. China maybe become a most powerful
country in the future.
Indeed, most of goods americans buy are come from China.
So, I am confused about how can a American family live without "made in China" .
As Chinese economy has grown it has come into direct competition with U.S. manufacturing firms.
With low wages and goverment policy, the Chinese manufactoring juggernaut has captured markets
for goods previously made not just in the United States but in other countries as well.
