This week I read "Box Five", "The Enchanted Violin" and "A Visit To Box Five." The following are the brief introduction about the content.

Box Five: Due to the change of the opera manager, Opera Ghost sent a message to M. Firmin Richard, the new manager, to tell him that he should not sell the Box Five to anyone. However, Richard sold it the next day because he thought Opera Ghost was just a joke. Nevertheless, the inspector also told him he have heard the voice of the ghost. Therefore, Richard didn't know the Opera Ghost existed or not.

The Enchanted Violin: In this chapter, it described Christne's and Raoul's childhood. It mentioned an important thing "the Angel of Music" and due to "the Angel of Music" Christne heard so that she told the Opera Ghost she will give her soul to him."

A Visit To Box Five: Actually, this chapter just a few pages. It described that Richard entered to Box Five to find the clue of Opera Ghost. However, he find nothing so that he thought Opera Ghost was really a joke.

In this week, I didn't read any chapter because I was making the research of the concrete industry and preparing the accounting badminton competition. Therefore, I will introduce the song "Think of Me " which the movie director used to show the reason why can Christine became the new margarita and to replace the chapter 2 "The New Margarita."

Here are the link and the lyrics:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXDonUxBxig

Christine: Think of me,

think of me fondly,

when we've said goodbye.

Remember me once in a while

please promise me you'll try.

When you find that once agian,

you long to take you heart back and be free .....

if you ever find a moment,

spare a thought for me ...

We never said our love was evergreen,

or as unchanging as the sea -

but if you can still remember,

stop and think of me ...

Think of all the things we've shared and seen

don't think about the way things might have been ...

Think of me

think of me waking,

silent and resigned.

Imagine me,

trying too hard to put you from my mind.

Recall those days

look back on all those times,

think of the things we'll never do -

there will never be a day

when I won't think of you ...

Raoul: Can it be?

can it be Christine?

Bravo!

Long ago,

It seems so long ago,

How young and innocent we were

She may not remember me,

But I remember her ...

Christine: Flowers fade, The fruits of summer fade,

They have their seasons so do we.

But please promise me that sometimes

You will think...

Of me!

Due to Raoul and Christine grow together in their childhood, so Raoul was really surprise about when he saw Christine became the new margarita and was singing in the stage so well. At the end of the song, Christine displayed the really great high-pitched voice and the skill of turn of the voice to improve she was a great margarita.

Due to the mid-term exam, I didn't read any new chapter in this week. Therefore, I will analyze the difference between "The Tales From Shakespeare" and "The Phantom Of The Opera."

Even both of two books are talking about the most famous opera in the world, but I think the two books are totally different. The reason is the level. "The Tales From Shakespeare" is written by Charles and Mary Lamb. The reason why they wrote this book is that they intended to as an introduction about Shakespeare for readers who were too young to read the plays. The words in the book are not so hard. However, "The Phantom Of The Opera" is written by Gaston LEROUX , the origin author. The letters in the book are really difficult. Actually, I didn't "read" this book. I "scanned" and "skimmed" this book because many words I didn't know. If I spent time looking for the words, I think it will take five minutes or even more to understand the words and what the sentence actually mean. Besides, I will not use the words I look for and I had watched the movie before so that I just skim it and scan it.

It is quite different between the movie and the book. In the movie, the tempo is really fast, just about twenty minutes or a little more but the movie already present three chapters. The movie also ignore many details such as "why there is a ghost", "the history about the theater" etc. due to the time district. Nevertheless, this is also the reason why somebody likes to watch the movie due to they can know the story in a short period or someone loves to read the book because there are more details in it.

After finishing "Tales from Shakespeare", this week I choose "The Phantom Of The Opera." I borrow this book from William. The reason why I borrow this book is that I want to test my English reading ability due to William said the book is really hard to read.
I will make a brief introduction first. This story is written by Gaston LEROUX, the profile French mystery and horror novelist best remembered today as the anther of The Phantom Of The Opera. This book is published by The Modern Library. The company says that they has published the world's best books at the best prices.
I read only three chapters – "Prologue", "Is It The Ghost?" and "The New Margarita " during this week. Actually, it is really not easy to read. I will tell more feelings about this book after I read in next reading journal.

These days I finish the book 'Tales from Shakespeare.' I read 'The Merchant of Venice', 'Macbeth' and 'Twelfth Night, or What You Will' three plays.
The following is the introduction about the plays which I think it's really famous. The Merchant of Venice is talking about Antonio, a young merchant of Venice, who wants to help his friend, Bassanio to get married with Portia. However, he didn't have enough money to lend his friend so that he borrows money from Shylock, a Jew, a moneylender who also lives in Venice. Antonio sign a contract with Shylock that if he can't repay the money by a certain day, he would lose a pound of flesh, to be cut off from any part of his body that Shylock pleased. To the date, Antonio really can't repay the money due to his boat was lost. At that moment, Bassanio already recognize Portia. When he get the information, he go to help his friend. Besides, Portia, a wise and beautiful lady, also disguises herself as a lawyer to help Antonio. In the court, wise Portia says 'the paper gives you no drop of blood; the words are: 'a pound of flesh.''
However, how could we cut off a pound of flesh without some blood falling? Therefore, the court releases Antonio. After the event, Bassanio get married with Portia.
After finishing the book, Shakespeare is really a great master of plays. Why I say the words? For example, he uses the words 'They were both born in the same hour, and in another hour they were both in danger of death, for they were shipwrecked on the coast if Illyria as they were making a journey together.' to introduce the main characters are twins and make an opening for the stories in 'Twelfth Night, or What You Will.' Thanks for this free reading that I can know about the Shakespeare's plays.

The book I chose was " Tales from Shakespeare." The reason why I chose was that it was a small book and lay on my shelf for three years. The book's writer were Charles and Mary Lamb. They wrote this book because they intended to as an introduction about Shakespeare for readers who were too young to read the plays. This book's level was 5 - Upper Intermediate (2300 words). William Shakespeare , whose plays are retold in history form , was famous around the world for both his poems and his plays.
These days I read four stories , The Tempest , A Midsummer Night's Dream , Much Ado About Nothing and As You Like It. In fact , these plays were very funny and interesting . Both of them had a complete frame. Shakespeare introduced some characters partly at the beginning , then extended the stories. After the peace plot , the turn appeared , such as a evil role did the bad thing…etc. However , those good people could always overcome the difficult situation or defeat the devil. Then the story had a good end.
The character was not only human but also inhuman such as fairy or monster. To sum up , the plot was really interesting . Besides , I thought Shakespeare believe all human was kind due to all plays was ended with love and peace.
