This is the last reading journal of this semester. There are four seasons' themes in this book, and I have already finished the forward two seasons, autumn and winter. This week I enter the third season, spring. In the start of this season, something terrible happened to Frieda. She was crying in her room, and then Claudia found her and ask her what happened. Frieda told her about the whole event. That was because that Mr. Henry, the roomer of Frieda's home, did something obscene to her. Frieda was so afraid and running to her Mom and Dad for help. Her Dad was so angry and wanted to kill Mr. Henry. He even shot at him. And Frieda was afraid to be ruined. They thought about the three whores lived in the apartment above the Breedloves' storefront. They always drank whiskey. So they thought Frieda might drink to help herself. Then they thought about Pecola. Because Pecola's father always drunk. So they decided to ask Pecola for help.

Reading until now, I can find something about the point of this story. I have known the final of this story. Pecola was raped by her father and having her father's baby. She went crazy and believed she had blue eyes. I feel very sad about the final, but I think it can make me think about everything. Everyone in the world is equal. No one should be depreciated. I will continue read this book until I finished it. I think reading this book can make me learn many thing about my life.

I finished reading "Charlotte's Web" these days. In the cold night , Charlotte wove "Humble" on the web,and it caused contrast with another pig. "Well-known,.special , excellent" were all words called on Wilbur. The Fair decided to give Wilbur a special award. After the Fair was over,Charlotte had done one egg bigger than her body, and she died with all her strength.Wilbur woke Templeton up to take Charlotte's egg, and brought it back to bury in the farm. When spring came, many small spiders crawled out of the egg. And some of them were blown away by the wind, Wilbur were anxious and cried out.Three of them hanged down and used their mother's words to ask Wilbur.Wilbur was so happy that he laughed loudly. I think this story was moving! It can match an idiom "A friend in need is a friend indeed."

This time I read "The Talented Mr.Riley". The author is Patricia highsmith. And retold by Kevin Hinkle. It's published by penguin readers. And it has 88 pages. It talks about Tom ropley goes to Italy.He needs to find Dickie Greenleaf.Dickies' father wants him to go back to America. But after Tom get Italy,he find that he likes Dickies' life such as beautiful villa,beautiful girlfriend and lots of money.He wants to stay in Italy,he wants this life,too .Even commit a crime he still wants. And after once accident,the police start to investigate. I haven't finish yet.But,the book is also exciting.And it is a movie with Matt Damon,Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law.As a result,after reading this I decide to see the movie!

There were three whores lived in the apartment above the Breedloves' storefront. Pecola very loved them, and always visited them. They, in turn, did not despise her. But because they were whores, they would teach Pecola some wrong concepts and affect her life in the future.

Maureen Peal is a new girl in the school, and she was a mulatto. She was so beautiful and earned everybody's attention. Maureen was nice to Pecola because she thought Pecola can make her represent her largess. She used Pecola to set off her beauty. She disguised to talk with Pecola kindly, but actually thought Pecola was just a black and ugly girl. Frieda and Claudia noticed this fact, they were very angry and quarreled with Maureen on the street. Maureen screamed said that she was cute and they were ugly; even use the word of black so many times.

Through the story, I saw the friendship among Pecola, Frieda and Claudia. Although they were black girls, the friendship among them was bigger than the fake kindness of a mulatto girl. I think the important thing to a person is not what kind of race he is, but what consciousness he keeps in mind.

I still read the same book. Chapter 15 Every animal heard the crickets started to sing "Summer is over and gone" in the grasses,and they had different feelings. Some are happy, and some are sad. Wilbur looked radiant because Charlotte wove "RADIANT" on her web. Wilbur asked her if she would go Fair with him. she said she might not go, because she need to lay eggs. Chapter 16 Everyone and every animal were exciting to expect to go to the Fair. Before they went to the Fair, Mrs. Zuckerman felt Wilbur's ears were dirty, so she decided to take him a bath. Because Charlotte still worried about Wilbur, she promised to go in the end. And she requested Templeton to go together, since he knew more words how to spell. Chapter 17 Then they were all happy to go the Fair. There were many people in the Fair, since it comes once a year. Next to the Wilbur's pigpen was a big pig called Uncle. He was more larger than Wilbur. After Charlotte talked with him, she felt uncomfortable. She didn't like him very much.

I have finished the novel ,called "Romeo and Juliet".I have ever seen the movie before ,so it's easy for me to get the point.

Romeo and Juliet is one of Shakespeare's most famous masterpieces. It is a tragedy of love. The book talks about that Romeo loved Juliet at the first sight, and Juliet loves Romeo, too. Even they were in love, they still can't be together because the two families were enemies. Their parents thought that they were not been well matched .In the end of the story both Romeo and Juliet were dead for love. After the two families heared the news, they were touched and decided to make friends again.

It is really happy for us to live in this free society. We can choose our lovers by ourselves instead of by our parents. After all , love can not be controlled.

This time I have finished the book"Oliver Twist"
Then,Mr. Brownlow, with whom the Maylies have reunited Oliver, confronts Monks and wrings the truth about Oliver's parentage from him. It is revealed that Monks is Oliver's half brother! Their father, Mr. Leeford, was unhappily married to a wealthy woman and had an affair with Oliver's mother, Agnes Fleming. Monks has been pursuing Oliver all along in the hopes of ensuring that his half-brother is deprived of his share of the family inheritance. Mr. Brownlow forces Monks to sign over Oliver's share to Oliver. Moreover, it is discovered that Rose is Agnes's younger sister, hence Oliver's aunt. Fagin is hung for his crimes. Finally, Mr. Brownlow adopts Oliver, and they and the Maylies retire to a blissful existence in the countryside.
The book is a little more than others before.However,everytime I read Charles Dicken's book I found it is so true that may really happened in the past.The book also tell us don't give up and go ahead.Be honest!

These two week I have read about the situation of Pecola's family. They lived in a very shabby house. They lived because they were poor and black, and they stayed there because they believe they were ugly. One day, Cholly, Pecola's father, had come home drunk. And Mrs. Breedlove, Pecola's mother, asked him to take some coal for her. But Cholly didn't want to do it. Then they started to fight each other. Pecola's brother, Sammy, even screamed, "Kill him! Kill him!" Pecola was so afraid that she started to pray. Pecola thought if her eyes were different, her teeth were good, and her nose was not big and flat, she would be beautiful. Maybe Cholly would be different, and Mrs. Breedlove too. Each night, she prayed for blue eyes.

When I read this book, I deeply feel sad with the little girl, Pecola. Everything was not her fault, but she had to accept all of the harm. Racial discrimination exist in this society for a long time, and also made a lot of problem until now.

I still read the book "Charlotte's Web" this two week. Chapter11 Charlotte, a grey spider, played a trick on people. She wove "Some Pig" on her web. The action surprised everyone including Lurvy, Mr. Zuckerman and his wife. They couldn't believe what they saw. They thought Wilbur was an unusual pig. Soon, the event spread out. A lot of people came to see the web, so they had no time doing things in the farm but feeding Wilbur. Fern was happy that Wilbur's life was saved. Charlotte got every animals togethere except Templeton, a rat. She asked if anyone had a good idea to write the new words on the web. By doing so, she could get people pay attention to it again. In the end, they decided to weave "Terrific" on the web. Chapter12 Charlotte started to weave the new words on her web. Certainly, it made everyone surprised again, and they thought the pig is really special. Since then, they had taken care of him very much. Templeton also helped Charlotte save Wilbur's life. The job he should do is to find old magazines that Charlotte could spell some words from. At last, they found words from the ads, it said "With New Radiant Action." They didn't understand what it really meant, so Charlotte called Wilbur to act some movement. After doing that, they got tierd, so they went to sleep. Chapter13 Fern was happy to talk about things happened in the farm to her mother, Mrs. Arable. Her mother started to worry about Fern, becaused she said she could hear animals talk. Mrs. Arable wanted fern to play with other children outdoors instead og spending her time in the barn. Mrs. Arable was still worried about Fern so she made up her mind asking Dr.Dorian for help. After Mrs. Arable talked, Dr. Dorian thought it was normal for kids. He adviced Mrs. Arable that she should let Fern do things she liked. Finally, Mrs. Arable felt greatly relieved. All above were that I read this two week.

I have finished the book ,called "The Chronicles of Narnia-the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe".

The main idea of the book is that some kids Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy Pevensie from our world go into a magical world " Narnia"through the Wardrobe .And there is a evil white witch who has enchanted Nania for a long time so that it is always winter and never Christmas . The kids help the inhabitants of Narnia fight the forces of white witch.

I love one of the main characters ,called Aslan . He is not only a lion but also the king and god of Narnia. The reason why I love him is that he sacrifices his life to help another. Aslan represents Christ.

"The Chronicles of Narnia-the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe"is not difficult to read. I enjoy entering this magic world with these kids because I can see many interesting things ,and can experience a exciting adventure.

This two weeks I spent my time in the library almost everyday. Because there is coming the midterm examinations,I prepare for my exams and I frogot reading the Charlottes' Web,which is the book I chose to read before. But I still had read something,such as textbooks written in English including accounting,calculus,and English,of course. I hope teacher could forgive me for this time. I know there is no excuse to stop it just because I frogot. But I really want to say,the accounting is really difficult,so I need to spend a lot of time on it,and I have other time to practice the tebble tennis.For me,I feel time is not enough.I wish teacher could make an allowance for me,thank you.

Because this two week is midterm, I didn't read many part of the novel. But although I read a little page, I still found some meaning from this novel. The little girl of this story, Pecola, has already moved to live with MacTeer family, and keep well with Claudia and Frieda. There was a scene that makes me have an emotion. It was when Frieda's mother found that three quarts of milk in the icebox has disappeared. And she knew that Claudia and Frieda hated milk, so the only one would drink the milk is Pecola. But what make me surprise wasn't Pecola drank three quarts of milk, but the reason why she want to drink so much milk. The reason is that Pecola hope drinking milk can make her skin white, so she drank so much milk. When I read this paragraph, I felt sad with Pecola. She was a pure little black girl just wanted to become a white girl. There was a big contrast between these two families. I learned many things from this novel.

This time I went to borrow " Olier Twist" which is pubpublished by Penguin.
The book author is Charles Dickens and it's retold by Latif Doss.It has 112 pages.
The story is said that OliverOliver's young motner dies after giving birth to him.
And he was brought up in a workhouse where he always feels hungry and be treated cruelly.After working for a time for an undertaker,he run away to London.
Then,the pickpockets group's Fain welcomes Oliver to his house.Onces the other boys rob, then he was arrest.At the time he realizes what they are doing,he did not want to follow them on the crime.He tries to escape....But Fsgin don't want let him go,he hires Bill Sikes,a violent comriminal,to get him back.
I haven't finish it yet.But I feel he so brave to face each oppressions and he is honest.
This is what we should learn from it.

Through this two week, I decided to change the book I read. Because I thought the last book was too difficult to me. The book now I am reading is named The Bluest Eyes. It was written by Toni Morrison and originally published in 1970. My classmate introduced me this book, and borrows me the book. Toni Morrison is an American author and Nobel Prize recipient. This is her first novel, talking about racial hatred and historical memory.

The story focus on an 11-year-old black girl named Pecola Breedlove. Pecola's father drinks, her mother is distant, and two of them often beat each other. Pecola believes that if she had blue eyes, she would be loved and her life would get better. I think this book can make us thinking about the issue of racial and racial equality. I wish I can keep reading and learn something from this book.

I have finished 《The Hunchback of Natre Dame》recently. It's easier for me to read.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame is originally named 《Notre Dame de Paris》, because the backround story happened at Paris's most famous gothic cathedral. This Novel was written by Victor Hugo .
The main characters name is Quasimodo, he was named by his cruel guardian the owner of the cathedral Claude Frollo. From the moment he was born Frollo had trapped him the belle tower . Although he was in that bad enviroment, he grew up to be a kind-hearted young man .One time when a festival was held, Quasimodo met Esmeralda who had not only caught the instrest of Quasimodo, but even Frollo , thus the sad story starts.

The book's most touching part is that Hugo had used the book to criticize the darkness and the unfairness. Although Quasimodo was born ugly, he had a kind heart, reflecting to that, the cathedral owner Frollo had an ugly heart.

《The Hunchback of Notre Dame》is not only made into an animated cartoon, but was also made into a musical, and both are very popular. Although it is a sad ending, I still love it.

After I read "THE GREAT GATSBAY" this time I read "The Thorn Birds".

I borrow it form our school library.The writer is Colleen McCullough,

and it is retold by Ann Ward.
The book is published by Penguin and be classfy with 3000 words.
The book is tells the story of Meggie Cleary.Meggie is loved by Father Ralph de Bricassart who is struggle with ambition for serve God.Meggie can't change his mindeven they do wrong thing.Meggie finally married people who seems like him,but it is wrong decision.They miss each other for a long time...he even doesn't know he has a son Dane until Dane dead.
I want to say I read quickly than before !
I think it may because it has less people in it.As a result, it more easier to read.
I think next time I could choose the book which more complicated for challenge.

I didn't spend many time on reading this week.Although there were holidays,I didn't use time well.Because I went home,I didn't bring the book with me.

I still read "Charlotte's Web".

Chapter7 The sheep told the bad news to them,and it was the news that Wilbur will be killed on Christmastime. She said she saw many pigs getting bigger and bigger,and they were going to be killed for supper every year. Wilbur burst into tears,he didn't want to die.

Chapter8 Fern talked about all things happened in the barn to her parents,and her parents wondered why she could hear animals talking.So they decided to take her to the doctor.

Chapter9 Wilbur liked to see Charlette weaving her web,and he wanted to try it himself.But he failed,Charlette told him not everyone can do this like her.And Wilbur worried about his life,Charlette told him she promised to save his life.She wanted him to do things like before.

Chapter10 in this chapter,it told about Fern and her brother playing together.

The book now I am reading is Lying Awake, and it was written by Mark Salzman. I borrowed this in our business building library. Why I chose this book is because the size of the word in this book is big and clear, it made me read very comfortable. But when I stared reading this book, I found that I have a little barrier. Because the word in Lying Awake has a little difficult to me, I can't realize the contents about this book easily. It was talking about a nut's life in a convent. And what would happen when religious commitments strike the tangled. I am trying to read

I have finished "The Sorrows of Young Werther " .
Well,it is very difficult for me to read .As a result,I read slower and felt bored about its context.

The Sorrows of Young Werther is a collection of letters written by Werther, a young artist , sent to his friend Wilhelm.

In these letters, Werther gives a very intimate account of his stay in the a village of Wahlheim . He meets and falls in love with Lotte, a beautiful young girl who is already engaged to a man named Albert.

Although Werther is very sad, he still makes friends with both of them. His pain eventually becomes so great that he is forced to leave . While he returns to Wahlheim , where he is more sad than he was before, because Lotte and Albert are now married. Out of pity for Lotte's friend and respect for her husband, Lotte makes a decision that Werther should not visit her so frequently. Werther is very sad and had realized that one of them—Lotte, Albert, or Werther himself—had to die. Unable to hurt anyone else ,Werther has no choice but to kill himself .

It's not a happy ending.Afer finishing it,I am very sad.I thinkWerther is very stupid,he dosen't have to give up his life . I don't know how strong the power of love is,but I know how important the life is.
Next time I want to choose the books more more happier.
