My Reading Journal 4 C組,林泯輝

Due to the mid-term exam, I didn't read any new chapter in this week. Therefore, I will analyze the difference between "The Tales From Shakespeare" and "The Phantom Of The Opera."

Even both of two books are talking about the most famous opera in the world, but I think the two books are totally different. The reason is the level. "The Tales From Shakespeare" is written by Charles and Mary Lamb. The reason why they wrote this book is that they intended to as an introduction about Shakespeare for readers who were too young to read the plays. The words in the book are not so hard. However, "The Phantom Of The Opera" is written by Gaston LEROUX , the origin author. The letters in the book are really difficult. Actually, I didn't "read" this book. I "scanned" and "skimmed" this book because many words I didn't know. If I spent time looking for the words, I think it will take five minutes or even more to understand the words and what the sentence actually mean. Besides, I will not use the words I look for and I had watched the movie before so that I just skim it and scan it.

It is quite different between the movie and the book. In the movie, the tempo is really fast, just about twenty minutes or a little more but the movie already present three chapters. The movie also ignore many details such as "why there is a ghost", "the history about the theater" etc. due to the time district. Nevertheless, this is also the reason why somebody likes to watch the movie due to they can know the story in a short period or someone loves to read the book because there are more details in it.
