I went to library to borrow two books, which were named "A CHRISTMAS CAROL"and "THE CALL OF THE WILD." Because I have an accounting test this Thursday, I dont spend much time reading English book.
At first, I read the book which is named "A CHRISTMAS CAROL." The story was wrote by Charles Dickens and retold by Michael Dean. The book was published by PENGUIN READERS in 2000. And, it was also adapted for a movie that was named "Scrooge." The story gave the background of the Christmas in London. The story was told about a greedy man. His name was Mr. Scrooge. He could only see money in his eyes and never give to the poor. He was also hate Christmas day. But on the Christmas night, he saw an old friend's ghost and three ghosts who represented past, now, and future. Under the three ghosts guiding, he was repentant his former life, and decided to change himself. Henceforth he must help the human warmly, and know that the true meaning of the Christmas were gratitude to people.
In "A CHRISTMAS CAROL", the author compared greedy with gentleness through writing the story and disclosed the ultimate pursuit of the value of life. In the story, the author also told us about Christmas in London. In 1843, London was a dirty town. The fashions of celebrating the Christmas was not flourishing. Because of the book, let the Christmas custom be popular from past to present.
