My Reading Journal 3 H組 潘巧紋

"Matilda" is a 240-page book with comfortable typesetting and lovely illustrations. I have finished about half of this book.
Matilda is an intelligent little girl. But obviously her parents don't think so. They cannot appreciate the talent their daughter has. On the contrary, they don't like Matilda to read or even learn anything good. Actually, they think TV is all enough to have as a pastime at home. In school, there are nice teacher Miss Honey and horrible headmistress Miss Trunchbull. I can't wait to see what would little Matilda do to the mean and overbearing headmistress.
Although this book is easier than last one I have read, there are still many words I don't understand. It seems that my vocabulary is some kind less than an American child's because "Matilda" looks like written for children. Maybe I should read more and expand the vocabulary I have. However, I hope I can finish this one as soon as I can.

I will be very happy when I finish the second part.

Still. I want share the idea I like most to you

You must heard the term called "soul mate"

Do you think a soul mate is your perfect fit?

Or the one know you well?

Precisely, soul mate is a mirror. They come to our life just to reveal another layer of ourselves to us, and then they leave.

Liz's problem is she cannot let go. I think that is also my problem.

For David , his friends are important, too. He has a lot of true friends, such as Traddles, Mr.Micawber, and Agnes. Traddles is a poor man, but he is a nice man. He studies hard and becomes a great lawer. Mr.Micawber is a good man, but he always can`t manage his money well. He meet a bad man, Uriah Heep. Uriah utilizes Mr.Micawber to do the bad thing. During two weeks I finished reading two English books. One is "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," another is "A Tale of two cities."
"Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" was written by Robert Louis Stevenson, retold by Stephen Colbourn. This book is at elementary level. There are approximately 1,110 basic words in it.The main story is talking about a good, kind doctor, named Dr. Jekyll. He indulges in scientific research. One day, he created a kind of white powder. While taking the white chemical, Dr. Jekyll turns into another person, who is ugly and evil, named Hyde .At first, Dr. Jekyll thought he can control the evil part of him. But, finally, he failed. In order to prevent more tragedies happen, Dr. Jekyll took poison in the end. The story was adapted to movie in 2003.
This book seems a household story, when I shred the story to my friends, they all knew it. I only spent three day finishing this book, because I am really interested in it.
And there some vivid pictures in it, maybe it is a part of the reason that I loved this book.
"A tale of two cities " was written by Charles Dickens, retold by Stephen Colbourn.
This book is at beginner level. There are 600 basic words in the book.
The background of this story is the revolution in French. And the story happened in London and Paris.
Mr. Charles Darnay and Mr. Sydney Carton looks alike. But they have different personalities. Both of them love Miss Lucie .Manatte. Charles is a nephew of the French marquis, but he was kind, not like his uncle. People in French hate the tyrannic government, the raised a revolution. Because Charles is an aristocrat, citizens in French want him to die. At that time Charles and Lucie had been married. Carton sacrifice himself to save Charles because his love for Lucie.
What a tragedy. At first, I wasn't interest in it because there are many people between two countries. I tended to get confused. But the last part of the book really touched my heart.
Both of the two books are worth reading!

I finished the book Charlotte's Web. The end of the story was saying that with Charlotte's help, Wilbur not only became the popular star but also went to enter the competition. Finally, Wilbur won the champion! But sadly, when he wanted to tell Charlotte how happy he was. He found that Charlotte had not much time to live. Wilbur was so sorrowful because he didn't want to lose his friend. To repay all things Charlotte did for him, Wilbur decided help Charlotte taking care for her children. As time went on, the baby were born and they like Wilbur as their mother did. Although Charlotte was not beside him, Wilbur will still remember his truly and intelligent friend forever.
After reading this book, I think the author want to tell to us is that friends are very important to everyone. We must cherish our friendship! Just like how Wilbur did for Charlotte.
This week, I choose the book "EMMA". It is written by Jane Austen and published by Pearson Education Limited. This book is Intermediate (1700 words). There are 59 pages. I plan to read it in one week.
