In these two week I chose the book "Chicken Soup for Soul", which include many kinds of life story such as family, friendship, and love. The series I read is about teacher who is always seek the best way to educate his student. There is a story deeply inpress me : Mike's parents ended in divorce, and he considered that was his fault, so he became irritable. Later, he started to write down filthy language on slip of paper, and put them on his classmates' desk. He never admitted that the slip was written by him. His teacher, Ms. Wassom gave him a personalized box, and told him he could put the slip written in filthy language in the box. Whatsmore, she made an appointment with Mike, if he put the slip on his classmates' desk again, she would take back the box. In the beginning, the box was filled by slip, however, after two weeks, Mike voluntarily asked Ms. Wassom there was something he can do for her or not. Ms. Wassom always praised and admired Mike after his help , and called him "the best assistant". Gradually, the slip in the box became less, till dissapeared in the end.

I consider the Ms. Wassom is very intelligent and concerned with his students.

In these two week I finished the book. So now I am going to tell you the second and the last phase of Pip's expectations. The second stage of Pip's expectations is that Pip was in London, learning the details of being a gentleman, having tutors, fine clothing, and joining cultured society. Because he always engaged in honest labor when he was younger, he now is supported by a generous allowance, which he frequently lives beyond. At the end of this stage, Pip is introduced to his benefactor, again changing his world. The third and last stage of Pip's expectations alters Pip's life from the artificially supported world of his upper class strivings and introduces him to realities that he must deal with, including moral, physical and financial challenges. The current ending of the story is different from Dickens's original intent, in which the ending matched the gloomy reverses to Pip's fortunes that typify the last expectation. Pip used the perspective of the bitter lessons he's learned to comment acidly on various actions and attitudes in his earlier life.

In these two week, I chose one of Charles Dickens' famous novel ,Great Expectations.  The action of the story takes place from Christmas Eve, 1812, when the leading character is about seven years old, to the winter of 1840.

Great Expectations is written in a semi-autobiographical style, and the story of the orphan Pip, tracing his life from his early days of childhood until adulthood. The story can also be considered semi-autobiographical of Dickens, like much of his work, drawing on his experiences of life and people.

The story is divided into three phases of Pip's life expectations. I will tell you the first phase in this journal. In the first expectation, Pip lives a humble existence with his ill-tempered older sister and her strong but gentle husband, Joe Gargery. Pip is satisfied with this life and his warm friends until he is hired by an embittered wealthy woman, Miss Havisham, as an occasional companion to her and her beautiful but haughty adopted daughter, Estella. From that time on, Pip aspires to leave behind his simple life and be a gentleman. After years as companion to Miss Havisham and Estella, he spends more years as an apprentice to Joe, so that he may grow up to have a future working as a blacksmith. This life is suddenly turned upside down when he is visited by a London lawyer, Mr. Jaggers, who informs Pip that he is coming into the "great expectations" of handsome property and be trained to be a gentleman on the behalf of an anonymous benefactor.

It's often difficult to take responsibility for our own actions.People tend to blame somebody else because we are afraid of being punished.I think learn to be responsible is a great lesson in our lives, and it's necessary.Only we dare to take our own responsibilities can we achieve our great goal in our lives.

Dink, Josh and Rose were good friends. One day Dink's uncle, Warren suggested Dink taking his friends to see Warren's apartment and his favorite painting. So, Dink, Josh and Rose were visiting Warren at their holidays. Warren was a kind, friendly, humorous person. He took them to see New York City's night scenery at the balcony. The view was great, Dink felt him just like an eagle up here. After that, Warren led them to see the painting. "This was painted a long time ago by a man named Claude Monet. It's very valuable." He said. "Is the painting yours?" Dink asked. "I wish it were, Donny," his uncle said. But it was his friend Forest Evans' collection, not his.

Latter, Warren looked at his watch and said "It's time to go downstairs," he said. He took the kids to see the circus in New York City. Troupers of the circus were very funny and good, they can perform many amazing act you never seeing before. Both Warren and the kids had fun there. But when they went to Warren's house, they found the painting was stolen. And the tabletop was littered with orange juice and peels. The fruit bowl was overturned. It's a very strange scene.

I have finished the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory yesterday.

The following is the summary of this book.

Charlie Bucket and his family are very poor. The only treat that Charlie receives is a single chocolate bar for his birthday each year. This year is special because Willy Wonka, the owner of the largest chocolate factory in the world, hid five golden tickets inside the chocolate bars. The five lucky children who find the tickets will be invited to be his guests at his factory for the day and receive enough chocolate to last a lifetime. With luck on his side, Charlie finds a golden ticket inside a bar of chocolate.. The five lucky children encounter many adventures with Willy Wonka inside the chocolate factory. Willy Wonka has many tricks up his sleeve and a special surprise for the child that remains at the end of the day.

I never really thought how cool it would be to enter a chocolate factory until I read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I thought it was just a couple of rotten, metal, rusty machines and some work men wearing hair nets. But when I read this book it was like a whole new world inside this factory .This factory brought me into a whole different world of candy making.

The book which I read recently is called "The Tenth Circle" .the author is Jodi Picoult.

Following is it's synopsis:
When Daniel Stone was a child, he was the only white boy in a native Eskimo village where his mother taught, and he was teased mercilessly because he was different. He fought back, the baddest of the bad kids: stealing, drinking, robbing and cheating his way out of the Alaskan bush ,where he honed his artistic talent, fell in love with a girl and got her pregnant. To become part of a family, he reinvented himself , jettisoning all that anger to become a docile, devoted husband and father. Fifteen years later, when we meet Daniel again, he is a comic book artist. His wife teaches Dante's Inferno at a local college; his daughter, Trixie, is the light of his life ,and a girl who only knows her father as the even-tempered, mild-mannered man he has been her whole life. Until, that is, she is date raped…and Daniel finds himself struggling, again, with a powerlessness and a rage that may not just swallow him whole, but destroy his family and his future.

"The Tenth Circle" is absolutely the thought-provoking and topical novel readers have come to expect. What comes as a surprise is just how thoroughly the book twists the reader's heart…Picoult does a bang-up job on the narrative approach she's known for. She leads readers to consider thorny issues around motives and consequences, this book is really outstanding.

In the major league , there are many high payroll team like New York Yankees like to use a lot of money to attract some superstars like Alex Rodriguez , However , this book is teach those poor team to use some tricks to win this unfair game . In order to win the game , they have to be the contrarian - sign some player is not very popular or unfit for the major league , and inspire their potential energy . On the other word , it conduct those team to construct a low payroll team with the ability to win . The book is not only a book for baseball , but for the business . This is the final work , Oliver has enjoyed his best time ever than before , he stays with family member he once tried to thieving in the country , he becomes stronger and more wise , he has being taught reading and writing , everything seems fine , but things always go wrong , Oliver is being found accidentally , those thieves will never leave him , they can do anything to "convince" him back to their side , and perhaps if he were being caught again , he may try to escape again , being caught and then escape , like circle walking , you don't know where the start and end are , it's endless , so this time I rather focus an incident , between Harry and Rose . Harry proposes to Rose , but Rose doesn't think she deserves his love because her background , if she accepted his proposal , she may ruin his future . Why I noticed this because why the marriage must establish based to each other's profits rather than just love ? Why one should left their own desire just because some nature born problems , I think if you really love someone , this won't be a hard barrier to break , face your own fear and wide it out , at least give a try , without regretting , that's the really way to life .

Book title : Alice's Adventure in Wonderland

Author : Lewis Carroll

Illustrated by : Nilesh Mistry

Retold by : Jennifer Bassertt

Publishing house : Oxford University Press

The novel belongs to a series named "Oxford Bookworms Library".

This simplified edition was published on 2000.

This story, "Alice's Adventure in Wonderland", describes a very curious dream of a girl named Alice. One hot summer day, Alice and her sister were sitting under a tree. Her sister was reading, but Alice had nothing to do feeling stupid, sleepy and bored. Suddenly Alice found a White Rabbit and followed it without thinking, and running down a large rabbit hole and into the Wonderland, she began her adventure. There happened many interesting things to Alice in the Wonderland, where the White Rabbit wore gloves and always hurried to somewhere and there were food which could make you smaller or bigger, where the Caterpillar smoked a pipe and the Cheshire Cat with grin, where the March Hare was having mad tea party with the Hatter all the time and the Queen of Hearts only liked red roses and wanted to cut everyone's head...

This is a fantastic, innovative story. Many things in the story are all strange and make no sense. But anything is likely to happen in a world of dream. We can use our imagination freely and create things we fantasize in a dream or make things we desire a lot like reality. When we are sleeping, sometimes we have a good, sweet dream; sometimes we have terrible, disgustful nightmare, and sometimes we just have an incomprehensible, indescribable dream feeling confused to it. Some people say that dream shows our unconsciousness, because while we fall asleep, we are in a totally relief condition. I think that is interesting. We can release in a dream, but we can't indulge in daydreams. We should set several achievable goals and realize them. When we carry our dreams out, we will get sense of accomplishment and feel happy.

The author, Lewis Carroll whose real name is Charles Lutwidege Dodgson, was born in 1832, and was the third child of a family of eleven children. As a child, he was good at writing word games and puzzles, and latter he was also good at Latin and math. He taught mathematics at Christ Church at the University of Oxford from 1855 until his death in 1898.

Dodgson wrote books about math, and he was a good photographer, too. But his famous work is "Alice's Adventure in Wonderland". It began as a story told to a real little girl called Alice Liddell, during a boat trip on river one summer. And it was published as a book in 1865. A second story about Alice, called "Through the Looking-Glass", followed in 1871. The two Alice stories, full of clever word games and verses, are among the most famous children's book. They were also important because they were the first stories for children which did not try to teach them how to be good.

"Alice's Adventure in Wonderland" is read both adult and children; it has been translated into many languages, made into plays and filmed many times. The characters in Alice's dream are now part of English. For example, we talk of people "grinning like a Cheshire cat", or being "as mad as a hatter". And when something strange happens, we will say "Curiouser and curiouser", like Alice in her dream.

This journal is the last one in the semester. In the period of this voluntary reading, I didn't spend much in my reading, but I did and took it serious. I always chose a story which is relatively famous and familiar to us. I think that would be easier and helpful for me when reading if I had some concepts of the stories. After finishing those world masterworks in its original language, I felt a sense of achievement and happy even though those are the simplified versions. Through the writing of reading journal every time, I would review the stories and survey what I got from them; that pressed me to reflect and distinguish. And I also tried to train my ability of paraphrasing by writing journal. But it seems that I didn't do well. I sometimes still can't catch the points and describe too much trivial details. Anyway, I made efforts and work with care, and I really learn something in the process.

They had a lot of troubles in their journey. They helped a princess in India , caught by indians in America, and was sent to jail in England.

Through the magic wardrobe, the four characters entered the kingdom of Narnia, where animals could speak, trees could sing, and human beings fought against the evil. Being a friend of the main characters', I see how Peter, Susan, Edmond, and Lucy make significant decisions in their adventure, and also how they become kings and queens in the realm. What's more, I also became acquainted with the kindest, the wisest, and the friendliest lion in the world, Aslan, who is the personification of love, sacrifice, and love!
In my opinion, Narnia Kingdom is really full of fantasy and surprises. And many imaginational creatures really exist over there!
Moreover, the characters in this story are all very emotional. The resurrection of Lion King, Aslan, and the final peace of Narnia symbolizes that -- justice will always win! When watching this film, I felt as if I was there, and adventured with the characters in the Narnia!

I had read the story which was named Julius Caesar. The author is Shakespeare and it was retold by Anne Collins. There are
fifty pages of the book and it is published by Pearson Education Limited in association with Penguin Book Ltd.both companies
being subsidiaries of Pearson PLC.The vocabulary level is 1200 words,I feel I can choose more advanced level next time because
now I can read this level more quickly than before.

In this story,Shakespeare change a few things to make it more interesting. The main person in his play is Brutus,an important Roman,
not julius Caesar. The story described about 2000 years ago,a great man called Julius Caesar was the ruler of Rome.He had great power, but
after some time he wanted more.On the basis of the reason,Cassius and Brutus wanted to kill him. They use a good opportunity, choosing time that
no one can help Caesar to put him out of the way.At first,a large crowd can't accept Brutus's behavior, but in a moment they are all convinced that
Brutus did a good job. Finally,Caesar's best friend,Mark Antony, wanted to revenge his dead friend. He decided to fight to Cassius and Brutus .
In the end,Antony fight a wonderful victorios war,and Cassius and Brutus choosed kill themselves to finish his lives.

After reading this story,I think that more power can make people bankrupt more intelligence. From ancient time to nowaday,we can see the same tragedy play again and again. I like read historical stories,I usually believe that we can learn some experiences or get some edification.
The main role all can be our teacher, and they can let us know right and wrong.I am very appreciate predecessor's examples, because of them,we can pass more smooth and stable.

This is the last reading journal of this semester. There are four seasons' themes in this book, and I have already finished the forward two seasons, autumn and winter. This week I enter the third season, spring. In the start of this season, something terrible happened to Frieda. She was crying in her room, and then Claudia found her and ask her what happened. Frieda told her about the whole event. That was because that Mr. Henry, the roomer of Frieda's home, did something obscene to her. Frieda was so afraid and running to her Mom and Dad for help. Her Dad was so angry and wanted to kill Mr. Henry. He even shot at him. And Frieda was afraid to be ruined. They thought about the three whores lived in the apartment above the Breedloves' storefront. They always drank whiskey. So they thought Frieda might drink to help herself. Then they thought about Pecola. Because Pecola's father always drunk. So they decided to ask Pecola for help.

Reading until now, I can find something about the point of this story. I have known the final of this story. Pecola was raped by her father and having her father's baby. She went crazy and believed she had blue eyes. I feel very sad about the final, but I think it can make me think about everything. Everyone in the world is equal. No one should be depreciated. I will continue read this book until I finished it. I think reading this book can make me learn many thing about my life.

I finished reading "Charlotte's Web" these days.

In the cold night , Charlotte wove "Humble" on the web,and it caused contrast with another pig. "Well-known,.special , excellent" were all words called on Wilbur. The Fair decided to give Wilbur a special award.

After the Fair was over,Charlotte had done one egg bigger than her body, and she died with all her strength.Wilbur woke Templeton up to take Charlotte's egg, and brought it back to bury in the farm. When spring came, many small spiders crawled out of the egg. And some of them were blown away by the wind, Wilbur were anxious and cried out.Three of them hanged down and used their mother's words to ask Wilbur.Wilbur was so happy that he laughed loudly.

I think this story was moving! It can match an idiom "A friend in need is a friend indeed."

During these two weeks, I finished an English book called "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer." It is written by Mark Twain, retold by F. H. Cornish and published by Heinemann ELT. This is at beginner level with 63 pages.

It is a story that talks about a naughty boy, Tom, the main character of this story. He is smart but always makes troubles and makes his aunt, Polly, angry. But he also knows how to make her laugh. His friends and he have played pirates for a week in an island. It sounds crazy. The unexpectedly thing is that one night Hunk and Tom go to a graveyard, they see a murder! At last, Tom offers his testimony, then, he becomes a hero. Tom loves a girl called Becky, he uses his pictures to makes her fall in love with him. Once, he and she get lost in the cave. They use a candle to find out the exit.
In the cave, they meet Joe who is the murderer that Tom has seen in the graveyard.
Finally, Joe suffers and dies in the cave. Huck and Tom are popular at last.

Mark Twain's real name was Samuel Langhorne Clemens. When he was twelve, his father died, and he went to work for a printer. He began writing humorous stories when he was seventeen. At first, because the English book title, I didn't notice that this is a famous story. The reason I chose the book is because the writer. I have read Mark Twain's humorous story when I was in senior high school.

This is an interesting story. Many unusual things happened in the story. Never will you know what will happen. And the author is good at describing the characteristics of the people in the story.

Although this is the last RJ, I wish I could keep the habit of reading English book. Look back to this semester, it is indeed substantial!

I read another book recently, it's name is "Mystery Girl." There are three stories in the book and this book is for teenagers.
The first story is "Mystery Girl", written by Joanna Strange. This is a interesting story. Phil was a member of a rock band. The story happened when their performance was about to begin. Phil met a beautiful girl and wanted to talk to her. But he didn't know how to start the conversation so he hesitated for a long time. During the time, his mates looked for him every where. When he was ready to say hi to the girl, his mates found him and told him that he was late. They soon ran to the place where they perform and start their band. At the same time, the mystery girl was watching the band. She saw the boy who tried to talk to her and decided to talked to him again because she wanted to know his friend, Lee.
The second story is "Ghosts Fire", written by Robin Waterfield. This is a strange story. Elaine often saw a little girl screaming and fire in her room. But all her family said that she imagined it. No one saw the little girl except Elaine. She was very confused and wrote a letter to the builders of her house and asked what buildings were there before her house. The builders said there was a school for children who have no parents and there was a fire several years ago. The little girl was died in the fire. After Elaine knew it, she never saw the little girl anymore.
The last story is "Luke's Trainers", written by Chris Rice. Luke was poor boy. He wanted the beautiful trainers in the shop but he had no money. He did work for people every weekend to earned money. Five months later, he had enough money to buy the trainers. He put on his new trainers and the box with his old shoes was under his arm. When he was on his way home, he met a boy, who liked hitting people and took things from them, Andrew. He asked Luke to give him the box. Luke threw the box to the river and hit Andrew in the back when he tried get the box. Andrew fell into the river. After that, Andrew became very ill and didn't hit people.
